The Slim Pet Vet

Ready to change your dog’s life?

Many owners know their dog needs to lose weight but don’t know where to start. Dr Caroline, The Slim Pet Vet is the answer you’ve been looking for.

How It Works?

Meet Dr Caroline, the Slim Pet Vet

With 20 year’s experience as a practicing veterinarian, I have seen first-hand the steady increase in the number of animals suffering from obesity.

In 2021, I created an online program designed to help pet owners make the dietary, environmental, and exercise changes needed to help their pets lose weight, and importantly, keep it off over the long term.

Drawing on my early training at the Royal Veterinary College, University of London, as well as my special expertise in small animal medicine, my program discards the myths and provides practical solutions to promote and maintain your dog’s weight loss.

The results speak for themselves. Owners consistently reported an average 6% weight loss at the end of the 12-week program, leading to:

  • Improved gait and mobility in arthritic dogs
  • Reduced use of pain medication
  • Reduced risk of heart disease, diabetes, and cancer

My mission is clear: a healthy dog is a happy dog. And we can all WOOF to that!

Give Your Dog More Energy to Live Their Best Life!

Testimonials

I’d always wondered if Alfie, our Jack Russell terrier, was overweight. He’s 10 with arthritis, and after a recent operation on his cruciate ligament, we began working with Dr Caroline to help him lose weight. We have learnt so much about how much he should be eating, and how to safely increase his exercise. Dr Caroline’s program has become a way of life for us with Alfie, who is already half-way to reaching his goal weight. We can’t thank Dr Caroline enough, she has been there every step of the way on Whatsapp, Zoom and email. We will never forget how much we have learnt and know that Alfie is going to have a longer and happier life!

Our six-year-old Labrador Retriever Ebony started to gain weight after being neutered and although the vet warned me about it, I didn’t know where to start. How much should I be feeding her? How much weight does she need to lose? How can I do this when she has arthritis? What if she thinks I don’t love her anymore? Caroline’s program answered all these questions and more and gave me the tools to ensure my dog lives a happier, healthier, longer life. In just over 12 weeks she has lost 3kg and is looking, moving and I’m sure feeling, so much better! Keep up the good work Caroline, and to anyone considering this program, DO It, your dog will thank you endlessly!

Dr Caroline shared a wealth of information with me in our consultation about my dog and cat. I was very impressed by the preparation she put into personalising the appointment so that she was ready to respond to the precise challenges I was facing with my 15-week-old puppy and 11-year-old cat! Professional to a tee, Dr Caroline clearly has a passion for what she does, backed up by years of experience. I came away from our appointment with so much advice and great ideas for strategies to use with both my pets. Highly recommended!

FAQ

Your vet can calculate your dog’s body condition score. A high score indicates a dog is overweight, a condition that can shave two years off its life expectancy. Barring a formal body condition score, symptoms of excess weight in animals are similar to those in humans: lethargy, unwillingness to walk, depressed moods.

No. We understand budgetary considerations are a key concern for many dog families. We help you to decide which food is suitable for your dog, based on a variety of factors, including quality, nutritional benefit, safety, cost and ease of use.

Using our specially developed calorie calculator, we help you customise your dog’s diet according to your food choices and the needs of your dog.

Treats can be an important aspect of your relationship with your dog. We work with several trainers to show you ways to reward your dog, without adding extra calories, as well as letting you know how much food can be given as treats.

We help you set gradual, realistic training and exercise goals that can be easily incorporated into your lifestyle.

Many dog owners, rightly, worry about the impact of too much exercise on dogs suffering from arthritis. We’ll show you how to safely increase your dog’s exercise regime without adding to their pain or causing the condition to worsen.

We take into account all shapes, sizes and breeds of dog. The Slim Pet Vet’s program has been designed by vets passionate about your dog’s welfare and is customised according to your dog’s activity level and age. It has proved successful in dogs, from Jack Russels to Labrador Retrievers and all dogs in between.

There is no need to stop seeing your regular vet. Dr Caroline’s program has been designed to work in harmony with your local veterinarian and other veterinary professionals.

Helping your dog lose weight can add two years to its life expectancy, drastically reduce the risk of serious disease, and improve mobility and gait. A lean, fit dog is a happier dog with more energy and love to give you!
